Fun MICF facts – week three

The Premiership Quarter of the Festival. Knuckle Down my friends! It’ll over before you know it! Have you noticed this year there’s a new beer sold everywhere? Called ‘Wahoo’? It’s not bad, it’s priced a little cheaper than a lot of the other beers, and what’s more I’ve discovered that every barman I order it from says “Whoo-Hoo!” when you order it. So give it a try, but make you sure you order it by saying ‘Whoo-Hoo!”

Fun MICF facts – week two

The first weekend of MICF behind us, we remembered the little traditions; Dim Sims from Golden Towers, how annoying some flyerers are, and just how much you have to pay for a beer at the Hi-Fi bar.

The Name Game

October is a tough month in comedy: comedians are wracking their brains trying to work out how to name and describe a show for next year’s Comedy Festival in order to register it. A show which, thanks to the way stand-up works, is probably no more than a mad glint in their eye.

Fun MICF facts – week one

Hey Trivia nuts,
Welcome to Fun MICF Facts. Each week I’ll be pointing out mildly interesting trivial facts about the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, comedy in general or any other random things I think of.

Did you know that this MICF is Dave Hughes’ 16th, yet it is Steve Hughes’ first?
This is Kent Valentine’s first MICF as a father.
Dave Bloustein of Puppy Fight offered 2 for 1 tickets at his 2006 Edinburgh fringe season, and received a huge spike in sales. This is despite the fact that his show was free.
