Daniel Townes – So Far So What

Daniel Townes – So Far So What

As the title of his show may suggest, Daniel Townes doesn’t care very much about anything.  Performing to a half-empty room at the Portland Hotel, So Far So What covered a wide variety of topics, from seducing older women in England to the pointlessness of the Adelaide Zoo.

For the most part of the performance, Townes’ delivery was lazy.  While some of his material, particularly that concerning xenophobia and video games, was quite strong, his constant fidgeting with the microphone and stand was quite distracting.  Considering that this is his sixth year at the Comedy Festival, you’d expect him to present a slightly more professional manner.  Instead, he came across as somebody who wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself on the stage, at times pausing to explain his jokes, and sometimes even laughing at them, while the audience sat in silence.

This is relaxed, informal comedy, and while it may not be the best laugh out there, all it really needs is better delivery and a stronger stage presence.

This is bullshit. F**king hilarious guy, great show.
What, no dancing, skinny jeans and Melbourne references, so it’s no good?
    Pathetic review.
    I LOVE this guy.

daniel is a top comic but its hard to get motivated to a half empty room. its about time the token stranglehold on comedy in this country was broken . it is killing the circuit and turning the festival into a boring ground hog day. same acts year after year. the same token tv heads getting unwarranted attention at the expense of superior comics like daniell. . token. fuck off and take your tv heads with you. you are ripping the punters off
