Fun MICF facts – week two

The first weekend of MICF behind us, we remembered the little traditions; Dim Sims from Golden Towers, how annoying some flyerers are, and just how much you have to pay for a beer at the Hi-Fi bar.

Also before I get into the fun facts I want to acknowledge a MICF treasure who seldom gets his credit. Paul, the Melbourne Town hall doorman. You know who I mean, the white haired friendly bloke, dressed in traditional royal guard gear who stands either at the top of the bottom of the main entrance to the Town Hall and is friendly to EVERYONE. Always great for a chat about whatever you like. I’d like all Pun readers to make sure you say hi and acquaint yourself with this gem of a man.

  • The same person who took the photo of Linda Catalano for her show Shopper also took the iconic photo of Eric Bana for the Chopper movie.
  • Cam Venn from Rodney. Missing. built a prop for his show that rotates five full sized fake legs. He has repeatedly been kicked in the face by this prop. Cam Venn also attended the same high school as Denise Scott’s kids.
  • Marcus Ryan did his show on Saturday in the dark for Earth hour. Which considering he flew from Scotland to Australia to perform it, is nowhere near enough to reduce his show’s carbon footprint.
  • Damian Clark once for a dare, on stage in Edinburgh, skulled a pint of half vodka/half milk. He did not throw up!
  • Thinking that James Dowdeswell looks familiar but can’t put your finger on it? He played possibly the most famous one-line character in the BBC’s Extras. In the David Bowie episode James played ‘Count Fukula’ who “whenever I see something, I have to f!@# it”
  • Hannah Gadsby is a qualified projectionist.
  • Jamie Kilstein has a tattoo of Calvin & Hobbes on his calf. It’s awesome.
  • Despite Terry North’s name, He lives in the eastern suburbs. Equally ironic is the fact that Gordon Southern lives in London.
  • Adam Hills has been David Smiedt’s best man twice!
  • According to Karl Chandler, the best joke in his 100 Jokes an Hour is number 14.

Alright now it’s your turn – answer these ones comrades!
