Sing us a song, you’re the Piano, Anne
You must know Anne, she’s that crazy chick at the office that everyone loves. You know the one. The one that always seems to be the last one dancing (usually the “running man”) at a work function and the first to make Casual Friday a costume-box day. But she’s hilarious, so it’s okay. She’s what my mum would call “kooky”. She’ll be laughing one minute, and holding a knife at your throat in the next. But she’s funny, so it’s okay.
Edmonds is actually an accomplished funny gal. Known for her multiple roles in ABC Online’s “Tough at the Top”, she’s adept at creating characters which reflect the very real, very disturbing populace that make up a large proportion of middle Australia. Clever and cunning, her parodies are insighful social commentaries punctuated with slightly unhinged personal stories, and songs in which she has ingeniously replaced the word “man” with “Anne”. Comedy gold. Edmonds combines these ditties with choreography which displays her natural ability for physical comedy. It’s a style that harks back to early stand-up greats such as Phyllis Diller and Lucille Ball.
The space at the Butterfly Club allows for an intimate show, and great chemistry is achieved between Anne’s crazy antics and the audience. Edmonds show has already been selling out, so if you’re willing to put your life on the line, (if she takes a liking to you, she might follow you to your car – if you get on her bad side…your body may never be found) book your tickets now to avoid missing this talented nutcase.

I saw Anne Edmonds and I was laughing the whole time, as was the audience. She is seriously funny and I think she is a definite highlight of MICF!!
I was amazed at how funny this comedian was – hysterical, sharp and quick. This was one of those acts that you stumble on, and five years later when she’s shining internationally you can say – ‘I saw her first show and we knew then!’ SENSATIONAL!
I agree – she was definitely the highlight of this year’s festival so far. Her humour was really original, too – it is somewhat like Tim Minchin, but grittier and with character acting too.
