Daniel Townes – And Yeah, You Know
So yeah, I do know. Of my generation, and very much a man of the times, Daniel Townes tells it like it is. Well, like it is for him. His musings are at times spot on, and at that level of funny that encourages a guffaw every now and then.
Sitting in the bunkeresque Gold Room at the Portland Hotel, a room that suits this show perfectly, it was very easy to imagine that Townes was one of my mates out for a pint. With stories on his time in the UK, the pilgrimage that all young Australian men seem drawn to undertake, musings on relationships and the world in general, the audience warmed to Townes and laughed along with his shenanigans.
I could see that the males in the room thought he was great, and they had a great time mentally hi-fiving him on some potentially accurate observations on the female species. I did notice that at times Townes looked like he was searching for the next gag, which is somewhat surprising given his wealth of experience – but again, I think this is part of his affability. He’s like the funny guy of the group, on a roll with a circle of mates along for the ride. It was this that had the audience relaxed and happy to become involved and interact.
And Yeah, You Know was a relaxing romp through Gen-X trials and tribulations – it’s a show that celebrates a funny guy with some great stories.
